When studying Food Technology a student encounters courses with a variety of subjects. Examples are Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics, Process Engeneering, Toxicology, Nutrition and Health ans Food Safety. Al these different subjects are aimed at Food and everything associated with Food.

A brief overview

In 1956 a new study programme, 'Richting XVIII-technologie', was established next to the already existing study Dairy Science. After several years the students started to feel the need for an association that would organise activities to get into contact with the workfield, maintain contact with graduated students and would represent the needs of the students within the university.

In 1962, during the first foreign excursion (organised by prof. Leniger who also played a role in the coming into existence of the new study programme) the study association 'Nicolas Appert' was established.
